Ermes Red Rice is a type of brown rice with a delicate aroma, born from the cross between Venere and long grain “Indica” rice.
It has an intense and typically sweetish flavor, from a medium-long grain and a ruby red color, with a white inner heart.
The red color is given by the presence of anthocyanins, antioxidant molecules, also present in berries and in all red-purple fruits and vegetables.
Red rice is a truly complete food, able to bring various benefits to our body, it contains little water and has a good fiber and protein content.
Compared to other types of rice, it is very satiating: in this way it keeps body weight and blood sugar under control.
Furthermore, being rich in antioxidants, it protects against free radicals, substances responsible for aging, and brings benefits to the skin, delaying the onset of wrinkles and protecting against damage from UVA rays.
Tips & Pairings
Red Rice Ermes presents a particular hardness of the grains; for this, the best way to cook it is through a fairly long boil (35 minutes). Despite the boiling times, Ermes Red Rice is still crunchy and retains its typical flavor.
In general, Ermes Red Rice goes very well with legumes and fish, but is ideal for salads, cold dishes and light dressings.
