Ferrara bread has its roots in the distant past. Before the 12th century it was made like a loaf, without hems, borders or embroidery. Subsequently, the legislators of the Este seigniory dictated strict rules for the packaging of bread , for its conservation and for the identification of the producer: it is none other than the size of bread that today is distinguished by the denomination Pair of Ferrara Igp.
The Ferrara couple has a unique shape that differentiates it from other breads:
two thin pieces of pasta joined in the center, to form the ciupeta, called in the Ferrara dialect;
it is very crumbly, has a persistent flavor and a recognizable smell.

Due to its crunchy and crunchy consistency, the Ferrara couple is ideal to accompany the typical cold cuts of regional gastronomy.
Its soft heart, with a compact crumb, also makes it suitable for excellent aperitifs.
