Aronia is a plant native to North America, imported to Europe in the early 1900s, and cultivated mainly in Eastern Europe (in particular Russia and Poland); being a rustic crop, it adapts well to any type of soil, perfectly resists most diseases and is cultivated both for ornamental purposes and to then transform its berries into jams, compotes or fruit juices. The fruit of Black Aronia is considered a real Superfood thanks to its multiple properties: it is very rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids, anthocyanins and polyphenols, which makes it an excellent anti-aging and gives it significant therapeutic and medicinal benefits. It also contains vitamins C and K in high quantities, useful for lowering cholesterol and improving blood pressure. In Emilia Romagna the first to focus on this product is the Martelli e Renzi farm located in Fontanelice, on the hills of Imola; the berries, after being harvested in winter, are transformed into jams, compotes and fruit juices in a small artisan laboratory located near the farm. A niche product, genuine and Made in Romagna: it certainly could not be missing from our selection!

The fruits of Aronia in shape and size resemble blueberries, but with a more astringent and sour taste; it has a very high quantity of antioxidants, vitamins and mineral salts and for these nutraceutical properties it is considered a real Superfood. After their harvest in winter, the berries are transformed in a small laboratory located near the Martelli and Renzi farm in Fontanelice, creating an original and delicious compote. To contrast and dampen the sour and astringent taste of Aronia, plum is used, always grown in the Imola area; 110 gr of fruit are used per 100 gr of product, without the addition of pectin.

It will be delivered in a 200g jar with label and hermetically sealed cap.

Aronia compote is perfect for those who love not too sweet compotes, with sour, natural and absolutely genuine nuances; we recommend using it as an original filling of Piadina Romagnola Igp or soft artisan bread, but also in combination with medium-aged and seasoned cheeses, such as Parmigiano Reggiano Dop 30 - 36 - 40 Months.
